Death To Internet Explorer 6! [Internet Explorer]
Well it's about time.
It's been nearly ten years of toiling over my CSS and Javascript, trying to give my websites a consistent look and feel across the board. Internet Explorer version 6 has been the bane of my existence and the thorn in my hide. My developer friends and I have discussed boycotting it at the risk of losing the eyes of the uninformed millions unknowingly viewing the internet the way it was never meant to be seen. Sure, we might lose their eyes altogether but we'd prefer that over a negative experience.
More recent versions of Internet Explorer aren't as bad and they're getting better at adhering to web standards but there are still some annoying browser-specific quirks we have to deal with every day. All I ask is that people really follow through with this movement.

amen, I wrote up a similar post just a few days ago… I was writing up a web 2.0 application and was about to pull my hair out on some IE 6 / 7 Bugs… so i finally just fixed it for ie 7 and throw up an Alert box to IE 6 –>
alert(‘SORRY, but your browser was realeased in 2000!\n\n It contains many bugs that could harm your computer!\n\n You should UPGRADE NOW!\n\n Try switching to Google Chrome! http://www.google.com/chrome \n\n We want you to have the best experience possible and we feel you are at risk by continuing to use this browser!’);
I will admit that IE 8 has improved in its own write, however, I still think Google Chrome is on top and continuing in the write direction…
I was checking out the benchmarks @
http://v8.googlecode.com/svn/data/benchmarks/v5/run.html
And Chrome killed every browser… IE 8 threw up a script is taking to long message…
Here is the results for all the browsers: (bigger number is better)
I did have dreamweaver running but no other browsers or tabs!
Chrome 3885
Firefox 480
Safari 1999
Opera 234
IE 8 79.9

While I do wish that people would just not use IE at all, the reality is that most people just don’t care or know enough about the difficulty it gives web developers.
On top of that, you have Microsoft fanatics that refuse to believe that IE is in any way inferior to other browsers.
I agree though — Chrome is a superior browser in terms of benchmarks, but I think (for now) Firefox’s extensibility is far more superior. Chrome’s day will come though.
